The first derailment I didn't get to find, I only saw the MEC wreck crane, and the second derailment had happened a day or two before I got there for the pictures and was caused by a sun kink. Heat expansion had caused the rails to buckle sideways. When this happens the crew is usually unaware of the problem until they are in sight of it, and that can be too late to prevent a derailment.
